For over twenty-two years, homeowners throughout Indianapolis have trusted Spotts Garden Service to care for their existing gardens and to design and install new gardens, with a focus on eco-friendly practices and native plants. A lifelong gardener and Hoosier born and bred, Terry Spotts founded Spotts Garden Center out of a desire to find creative ways to bring life outside and share his passion for gardening and plants with his friends and neighbors.
As the business grew, Terry’s sons McKenzie Spotts and Tom Spotts, both of whom grew up gardening with their dad, joined the company. McKenzie eventually became the CEO and Tom served as lead gardener. In 2023, Terry announced that it was time to retire. At that time, brothers Heath Hurst and Travis Hurst, co-owners of Heath Outdoor, acquired Spotts Garden Service and will partner with the existing Spotts team to continue serving customers in the tradition Terry created, while also expanding the services available to Spotts customers through Heath Outdoor.

Now, with the Heath Outdoor team available to support them, customers will find that their projects are happening more quickly. Also, if customers are looking for larger scale projects, such as hardscapes, water features or structures like pergolas or tiny houses in their gardens, Heath Outdoor can take care of that too. And conversely, Heath Outdoor customers now have access to a private gardening service with just one phone call.”
